About the firm;

Ducat Law Ltd started trading in May 2011, it currently has 2 full time staff accompanied by an additional 4 part-time staff. The firm concentrates its efforts in the Orpington, Bromley, Kent and South East London area. They offer a range of legal services to both individuals and businesses in and around these areas concentrating on residential and commercial conveyancing, probate and landlord and tennant work.

Why did you choose Cognito as your legal software supplier

We choose Cognito for several reasons:

Firstly we found that the financial and case management software are part of the same software solution, and as such this level of integration means we can access all data from a central location, saving on time resource and expense.

We also thought that the Cognito FiLOS solution offered our firm with an easy ability to access and ammend “workflows” and the ease of configuration of the system we felt was as extremely appealing aspect for when our firm grows.

Finally we thought that the remote access "Cloud Based Solution" on offer via AccessPoint enabled us to save on administration, hardware infrastructure and backups by having the software and data stored remotely.

Having the system available remotely allows us to have a simpler IT infrastructure in our office and backup / security is taken care off by AccessPoint.

What benefits has the firm gained from using the software?

Cognito FiLOS offered the firm a cost effective solution and although it took some time to configure the workflows and settings, we anticipate that we can grow the complexity of the solution to suit the growth of our firm quite easily in the future. It is like anything, the more you put into it the more benefits you will see in the long run.

In a short space of time we have been able to setup a case management solution from scratch to comply with regulatory requirements for the storage of client files. Although we are still learning how to use the financial module we anticipate that once we master this module we will benefit from having a fully integrated case management and accounts package that will make reconciliation easier.

How has it helped your staff?

Implementing Cognito has enabled our staff  to have easy access to all cases and matters effortlessly, the system is relatively easy to use in terms of the basic workflows and has proven to reduce the time that we used to waste on doing routine and repetitive work.
